What on earth is a Motivated Clone?
Ideally, a Motivated Clone would be a version of you on your best day: rested, focused, productive, and motivated in every possible way. But until we’re able to make that happen, your MoClo is me. Hey.
One Sunday night back when I was a very new mom and navigating a very new job, my husband and I were going over our to-do lists for the coming week. They were OOOVVERRWHELMMMING, and I was already worn-out. “I need a clone,” I whined. “But not a clone of me right now. She’d be useless. I need a motivated clone.” We laughed wearily, and the term MoClo was coined.
So welcome to Motivated Clone, a newsletter designed to streamline your life at least in the ways I can do so through writing.
I can't drive your kids to school (I’ve got my own, thanks) or attend your board meeting (you'd be fired), but I can help take some busy work off your plate. We all have errands, many of which are virtual — gifts to buy, closets to refresh, supplies to replenish — and all of which are time consuming. I can lighten that load by sending you all of the shoppable stuff that I love and that you might need — gift ideas, fashion roundups, cool hacks, realistic recipes — all expertly edited, linked, and delivered to your inbox. MoClo newsletters won’t change the world, but they just might simplify yours. It's so hard adulting these days. Life is serious and the stakes can be high. My hope is that you find value in what I share but also some fun.
Let me, your MoClo, tackle the mundane so you can focus on the important.
I’ve spent decades as a magazine writer/editor, product researcher, inventory consultant, personal shopper, and high-end gift designer. I’m also a mom, which is, by far, the most demanding job I’ve ever had. And in all my roles, I’ve been utterly thrilled by the hunt for new products and have loved sharing my findings with others. It isn’t back-breaking work, but it does take time, patience, and research to do a thorough job and curate my recommendations. Every subscriber receives one newsletter per week. Paid subscribers receive two newsletters plus frequent bonus posts and special announcements. But free or paid, you still need to subscribe…
We’re in this together. I’ll show you mine — you show me yours.
I’d love for this to be a two-way street. Tell me: what can I find for you? Who on your list is impossible to buy for? Why are barrel jeans a thing? Send me your questions, your thoughts, your exhausting tasks, and this MoClo will make it all better. Subscribe, comment, share. Let’s build a cheerful, supportive (and motivated) community together.
xoxo, Jackie
